Homeschooling Story for Wellbeing

by | Apr 22, 2020

In these uncertain times, wellbeing has fast become a top priority. During lockdown, teachers, parents and carers have cited positive mental health and wellbeing as their number one concern for their children and young people, and they are actively searching for support on these topics.

The wellbeing of children and young people is also a top priority for us at OpenView Education, so we would like to introduce ‘I Want To Change The World’, an interactive story that can be used as a home schooling resource to support the positive mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.

Make sure you also download the free activity pack that supports the story at the bottom of this page.

We hope you enjoy: ‘I want to change the world.’

This is Philip, and he is just like you. He went to school with his friends and he always tried his best. He was a wiz at playing chess, and he was super duper at sport too.

But Philip has a wish, the biggest wish of all! He wants to change the world! He wants his name in lights, he wants people to hear his name and think ‘That’s Philip! He changed the world!’

So Philip would go to school, listen and learn, answer all the questions he could and get all of his homework done, and he thought if he tried his best, one day he would change the world soon enough.

But one day, Philip is asked to stay inside, no more going out, no more school. Just indoors. Philip didn’t understand: ‘How is he meant to change the world, when he can’t even go outside?’

Can Philip achieve his dream all from inside his house? It’s time to find out.

OpenView Education’s Home Schooling Stories for Wellbeing are specifically designed to help during the Covid-19 lockdown. This story is to help open up the conversation about wellbeing, mental health, and how even though things might be different, we can still support and look after one another.

OpenView Education is a Training and Education company, our mission is to equip students with the self-confidence and skills they need to stay safe, and live successful, happy lives. We have free resources available on Anti-Bullying, Internet Safety, Wellbeing, Mental Health and to support home learning.
